Batya Gur
Mystery writer, Batya Gur, lives in Jerusalem where her detective stories also take place. Gur earned an M.A. in Hebrew Literature from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and taught Hebrew literature for nearly twenty years. She wrote her first book at the age of 39.
We see Jerusalem through the eyes of Gur's chief character, Detective Michael Ohanyan, a Jew of Moroccan descent. Each novel takes place in a different setting, acquainting the reader with Israel's multi-hued society.
Gur's mysteries have been Voted one of Ten Best Mysteries of the Year by the New York Times Book Review.
